The Role
-
Reporting to the Senior Controller (CAO), you will have direct oversight and responsibility of the preparation of financial statements of a diverse portfolio
-
Managing the reporting for a multi-location portfolio in the Real Estate industry
-
Collaborating with multiple regional development offices
-
Managing the financial aspects in land acquisition and project accounting
-
You will supervise a team of 7 project accountants and mentoring them in all aspects of their responsibilities
-
Developing and implementing processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting

Responsibilities
-
Preparing financial statements and reporting for properties across four states on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis
-
Consult with our Regional Development Office staff on construction projects, property investments, and all finance matters
-
Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of job costing accounting
-
Manage a team of seven project accountants and help mentor them to help build their understanding of company accounting needs
-
Interpret financial statements (GAAP) for construction projects
-
Create processes and best practices for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, and to increase efficiency and effectiveness

Responsible for the review of project loan draws

Managing the interpretation and accounting for joint venture projects
-
Report relevant financial reports to outside partners, maintaining a positive relationship

Review and reconcile all cash distributions
-
Work collaborative with brokers to understand transactions and mentor your accountants through the transaction process
-
Review sub-partnership financial statements and ensure accuracy
-
Assist in analyzing and monitoring cash forecasting
-
Manage auditing
-
Oversee and manage all reporting deadlines, ensuring timely delivery
-
Maintain a positive relationship with bankers, collaborating on loan draws and managing bank accounts
-
Assist the tax and insurance departments during audits and review periods
-
Review company invoices and sign company checks
-
As a leader, help identify and resolve issues, and help to build an ethical office environment

Required Experience
-
Bachelor's and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting
-
CPA (big-4 preferred)
-
Extensive accounting experience
-
Experience in the Real Estate Industry, ideally Retail/Warehouses/Mixed Office Space
-
Consolidation expertise and previous experience with multiple entities
-
Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
-
Project accounting and job costing projection
-
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
-
Team-oriented in your management style and natural mentor

Entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen
-
JDE ERP (or similar system) experience preferred
